The Informant!, Steven Soderbergh (2009)

I thought this was a hoot. Matt Damon is a kind of Talented Mr. Midwestern Schmuck who keeps a running commentary concerning his own putative awesomeness going under his own breath as he goes through his days cheating and thieving and blowing the whistle on cheaters and thieves. As usual with Soderbergh, it’s as much the look and texture of the film that you enjoy as it is the story; the perfectly-rendered banal sweetness of the Midwestern offices and dining rooms and clothes and accents shot me like a rocket back to my childhood.
